Crime Prevention {CPTED}

Crime Prevention through Environmental Design

What is CPTED?

CPTED (pronounced 'septed') is a crime prevention strategy based on the theory that the built environment influences the behaviour of people.

The theory suggests that proper design and effective use of the environment can lead to the reduction in the incidence of crime and fear of crime, thereby improving the quality of life.

The Four Principles of CPTED are:

  • Natural Surveillance

  • Natural Access Control

  • Territorial Reinforcement

  • Maintenance and Management

Whether you have been a victim of property crime or want to take proactive measures to help prevent it, a CPTED Assessment can help you identify opportunities for improvement to keep you and your loved ones safe!
